Our History
Bethel Church of Montgomery County is located in a beautiful rural setting. The original structure dates back to 1869 when it was a Methodist Episcopal Church. However, the congregation itself gathered for worship many years prior to that time dating back to 1825. For many years Bethel Church had the largest congregation in the area. By the late 1990's the congregation had dwindled to only a handful and the building had badly deteriorated.
In 2007 the church was completely renovated saving only the hand hewed structural wood members. These original wood members were left exposed in the final renovation. In 2008 the adjacent fellowship hall was completely renovated. In addition, a gazebo was added on the church grounds to showcase the surroundings and making it a perfect venue for a variety of celebrations and once again host a weekly worship service. Bethel Church currently has approximately 50 members.
